CHOIR IN GOOD VOICE AT CATHEDRAL

Goring Chamber Choir travelled to Wells in Somerset to sing all the services in the cathedral.

Members travelled down on Bank Holiday Monday in time for a quick rehearsal in the choir stalls before singing their first Evensong in the cathedral.

The choir stayed at the adjacent Swan Hotel for the next two days., attending rehearsals in the Undercroft and the choir stalls, then singing evensongs each day.

The music they sang included Responses by Sanders, settings of the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis by Dyson, Murrill and Harwood, and anthems in German, French and Russian by Mendelssohn, Lang and Tchaikovsky.

The choir's musical director is Frances Brewitt-Taylor and Michael Howell accompanied on the organ.
