CHOIR IN GOOD VOICE AT CATHEDRAL
Goring Chamber Choir
travelled to Wells in Somerset to sing all the services in the cathedral.
Members travelled down on
Bank Holiday Monday in time for a quick rehearsal in the choir stalls
before singing their first Evensong in the cathedral.
The choir stayed at the adjacent Swan Hotel for the
next two days., attending rehearsals in the Undercroft and the choir
stalls, then singing evensongs each day.
The music they sang included Responses by
Sanders, settings of the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis by
Dyson, Murrill and Harwood, and anthems in German, French and Russian by
Mendelssohn, Lang and Tchaikovsky.
The choir's musical director is Frances
Brewitt-Taylor and Michael Howell accompanied on the organ.
